We followed our curiosity with some tinkering…
Our founder is a natural when it comes to building, dismantling and reassembling. So he went to work figuring out what goes wrong with most appliances and what’s needed to fix them.
It turns out, most appliances can be fixed pretty easily.
You have a few options, pay a technician a trip charge and an hourly rate plus the cost of an OEM part (one brand new made by an approved manufacturer) OR you can buy a reconditioned used part for a fraction of the cost and fix it yourself.
It turns out that the reason most technicians tell you to get a new appliance is because they charge $50-$150 for the trip to your home, $50 – $100 per hour to do the repair finally adding on the cost of an OEM part ($5 for a plastic screw to $400 for a dishwasher rack – you get the idea.)
So all in, you’re almost at the cost of a new machine.
